Fluxys in Belgian economic mission: Fostering sustainable energy partnerships
Fluxys Brasil will join the Belgian Economic Mission in Brazil, engaging in B2B meetings and seminars in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to strengthen Belgo-Brazilian partnerships, including key topics such as sustainable infrastructure and the hydrogen economy reinforcing Belgium and Brazil’s commitment to the energy transition, while also reinforcing the importance of infrastructure to guarantee security of supply.

Strengthening collaboration on renewable energy and green hydrogen
Fluxys Brasil, represented by its CEO Sébastien Lahouste and VP of Affiliates & Business Development Matthias Ivens, joined a Belgian delegation led by Caroline Mouchart, Consul General of Belgium in Rio de Janeiro, to visit the Pecém Complex in Ceará and the Port of Suape in Pernambuco. Discussions focused on the vast potential for green hydrogen and renewable energy in Northeast Brazil, with both local authorities and Belgian representatives sharing a strong interest in collaborative projects to support the region's energy transition and development of future-ready infrastructure.

Fluxys Group’s CEO visit highlights Brazil's strategic importance
Fluxys Group CEO Pascal de Buck, along with key leaders Ben De Waele (Affiliates & Business Development) and Anne Vander Schueren (Human Resources), visited TBG’s headquarters in Rio de Janeiro. Joined by Fluxys Brasil's CEO Sébastien Lahouste and VP of Affiliates & Business Development Matthias Ivens, the Fluxys delegation engaged with TBG’s leadership team and workforce. The visit underscored Fluxys’ dedication to Brazil as a cornerstone of its vision for the future and its commitment to strengthening energy infrastructure and partnerships in the region.

TBG and ATGás visiting Fluxys in Belgium: Exchange of TSO know-how
TBG and the Association of Natural Gas Pipeline Transportation Companies (ATGás) visited Fluxys facilities in Belgium for technical knowledge exchange on LNG terminal operations, small-scale LNG, and energy transition projects. The visit included discussions with the Belgian Federal Commission for Electricity and Gas Regulation (CREG) – Belgian regulatory entity – and European institutions, as well as site tours of Fluxys’ underground storage, dispatching center, and the Zeebrugge LNG terminal.

Throughout the year, Fluxys Brasil actively participated in major industry events, including Rio Oil & Gas 2022, the 5th Brazil Investment Forum, the Brazilian Green Energy Summit and the Gas & Energy Week 2022. These engagements were fundamental in reinforcing the group’s presence in Brazil and building closer ties with key players in the Brazilian energy infrastructure market.

Finally touching ground
Since Fluxys became shareholder of TBG in April this year, the Fluxys Brasil team had been working remotely due to the pandemic. “With the situation significantly improved, it is a relief for us to have moved into our office in Rio de Janeiro and really start our work here in Brazil. It was a real pleasure to physically meet the TBG team and we look forward to seeing face-to-face all other contacts we made virtually!”
