About Fluxys
Fluxys is a fully independent infrastructure group, headquartered in Belgium, with close to 1,400 employees active in gas transmission & storage and liquefied natural gas terminalling.
Over the past decade, we have significantly expanded our operations, with a clear focus on large-scale infrastructure for the transportation of molecules, including natural gas, LNG, and biomethane. Today, we are working on numerous low-carbon projects in almost all the countries where the group operates, which means that in the very near future, hydrogen, ammonia, and CO₂ will be integral parts of our infrastructure.
As a purpose-led company, Fluxys together with its stakeholders contributes to a better society by shaping a bright energy future. Building on the unique assets of its infrastructure and its commercial and technical expertise, Fluxys is committed to enabling a 100% carbon-neutral energy system by 2050.
We operate in Europe, the Middle East and South America. Where the market is ready, as an infrastructure company we are also ready for the transition to a hybrid energy future in which carbon-neutral molecules and renewable electricity complement one another in the energy system.
Our activities
Gas transmission
- We operate 28,000 km of gas (midstream) transport pipelines across Europe, South America and the Middle East, more than 3 times the size of the Brazilian on-shore interconnected midstream network
- In Brazil with c. 2,600 km of pipelines and 15 compressor stations (TBG)
Large & small-scale LNG
- We manage liquefied natural gas terminals in Belgium, France, Greece and Chile.
- Total yearly regasification capacity of 470 TWh, corresponding to a combined regasification capacity of more than 120 million cubic meters per day.
Gas storage
- We store natural gas at our 770 million cubic meters capacity underground gas storage facility in Loenhout in Belgium.
Fluxys global activities
Over the last decade, Fluxys has become a reference partner for gas infrastructure projects and ventures with assets located across Europe, South America and the Middle East. Our ambition is to keep developing our European presence while also becoming a recognized gas infrastructure partner outside Europe. In South America we have regional offices in Rio de Janeiro and Santiago.
Shaping a bright energy future
As a key infrastructure partner, Fluxys Group is building a sustainable and cleaner energy future. That is our purpose. With our terminalling, transmission and storage infrastructure for different molecules, we bring energy where it is needed – today and tomorrow.
We aim to accelerate the energy transition with multi-molecule infrastructure. Our ambition is high: 30x30x30. We want to offer our customers an annual transport capacity of:
30 TWh of hydrogen and 30 million tons of CO₂. And all this by 2030.
On top of this, we see all our assets becoming future-proof.
How will we realize this?
There are three ways that will guide our actions and decisions to achieve this: Our core values, an inspiring sustainability vision and a clear strategy. How we achieve our ambition is equally important as our ambition.
